this is such a well-organized thread. i might participate if i have the time candy~ :3

f

dxblue; at the moment we don't know, and you'd know this fact if you'd have read the through the thread. we can't do much but wait for the admin's to log on and sort out the problem.

f

Only MT? If you insist, but i'm still inclined to think the problem's on your end. Can you give me an example (or two or three) of a userpage or group that screws you up :O (i realize this is prolly gonna be hard to get but uh..)

f

Wow.... ewww?

What's with Mitsuki's voice man :( Eichi sounds okay, though. But man. the more i listen to Mitsuki i wonder what random girl they picked that part: She can't pronounce anything properly, she can't give any expression properly.. e_e;;

Ewwww Takuto D: *cries* Ewwww Meroko! Someone needs to give these people Japanese intonation lessions D: Meroko has her Meroko-ness down, though. But seriously who is Takuto, his and Mitsuki's voice make me sad. Why do the main characters always end up getting the crappy VA's?

Lol, Negi-Ramen. i'm glad they left that in. XD.

I suppose it could be worse but... :(

f

Are you using Firefox or Internet Explorer?

(edit): this is almost certainly a problem with your browser/system and not MT, by the way. Try visting another site with embedded music. (sorry, can't think of one to link off the top of my head.)

The scan itself looks a little dull.. this may be a result of the fact that you blended her in with the background with a layer blend or something, or just that the colours need adjusting - prolly the second one. Play with the brightness/contrast of the image.

The lightning looks like it was drawn in - this is a bad sign. What i'd do is redraw it entirely - and remember, less is more. It'll probably look more realistic if you have less little "Strands" coming off the main lightening one than if you have more. You could also try using an outer glow layer effect (double click on the layer in the "layers" menu-window-tab thing) to give it that extra punch.

You might wanna ajust the colour of the blood a bit - it's a bit too red as it is.

Like Kuroimisa said, get rid of the bevel effect, or whatever's going on there around the edges - it just looks weird.

The scan itself gets cut off on the left by the axe - you might wanna consider extending that (which can be tricky) or blending it in somehow.

f

Also, if you've been downloading other wallpapers or scans, that consumes credits too (often much more than submitting wallpapers does.)

f

Okay, let's do this one by one:

1) Scan extratction isn't clean (there's clear pixellation around all characters) and the scan itself is extreme dull coloured - whether intentional or not, it doesn't look good under any circumstances. Background is decent, but overall the wall lacks any real concept.

2) Again, scan extration is unclean, jpeg compression is glaringly obvious. This is probably the worst of teh bunch, to be honest.

3) Screencaps are unnacepatble in wallpapers, unless vectored. This is obviously a screencap of Mori and Honey-senpai. Other than that, this wall has the least problems of the four.

4) This is an example of "scan meets stock" . scan meets stock does NOT equal wallpaper. While the scan (vector? where did you get this Kyoya image from?) is high quality, it looks to be placed on a randomly selected stock and called a wall.

As a general statement for you, you need to work on concept: what are you trying to acheive with your walls? what is your purpose, and how are you going to bring it about?

Good luck.

f

Again, it'll pass submission but here's a few suggestions:

1) Get rid of those weird dots on the moon
2) Cut down on the starry... things.
3) get rid of the glow around kaoru.
4) think about reducing the saturation in kaoru, too (it's under the edit menu)
5) brush in some of the clouds. The Render Clouds effect is obvious in this wall, and that's not a good thing. You could also blend in some cloud stock, as well.

f

everything soujiokita said holds true, but, regardless, there's a good chance it'll pass submission without being deleted by BotChii.

f

interested, but i'm ultra-busy until basically end of june (exams + AP war thing + sports lols i be jock execpt not really + work) and i kind of want a couple weeks' breather after my insane june is over... @@; so i'll think about it.

I'm not quite sure if this qualifies as a bug.. but it's certainly odd ^^; searching the fourms didn't reveal any threads on this, so yeah hi post.

It's not a major issue but it is a little weird. seems MT can't get enough of Spystreak >.>

f

hmmm.

no one can teach you how to make a wallpaper, but you can learn. :D

confused?

making a wallpaper is an artistic thing; and therefore no one can teach you that. However, you can learn HOW to use photoshop (or your graphic editing program of choice) to the fullest of its ability.

My advice to you: grab an image (make sure it's a decent size, fits nicely on your monitor, you can see all sides of it at any time, decent quality, etc.) and then load it up in photoshop. then, go through EVERY TAB and use EVERY FILTER, effect, reduction/expansion, brush, blend.. EVERYTHING onthe image. as many times as you need. remember which ones you like, then experiment. Looking at tutorials can help, but i've always found that with tutorials i've taken away more the techniques and less the final product away from them.

Good luck :D

f

truthfully, i have one piece of advice for creating flames in photoshop:

don't.

generally, they either consume huge amounts of time in the making, or the end up looking rather bleh. it's a good effect if used properly, but it's hard to use properly.

that said, if you're deadset on it, the tutorials above look good, so good luck to ya :D

Low - Silver Rider

f

yep :)

but i only really started being able to be pick up stuff (aside from the occasional phrase, i'm talking like verb forms and such) after i started taking japanese formally in school. i can watch a raw episode of Mai Otome and understand a good 40-60% of it, and considering the string of bad japanese teachers i've had in the past 3 years, i'm not doing badly :P

But it was a while before i could pick up more than a few phrases - it's hard to know what's what in a sentence because japanese sentences don't go subject-verb-object like ours do.. so i think a combination of formal japanese learning (ie a classroom situation) and watching mounds of anime will get you to a certain level of fluency ^_^

Great

Any particular favorite books from the 1800s?

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte :D

thanks for the welcomes everyone ^_^~

I've got a bit of a soft spot for Love Hina; it was the first subtitled anime i watched (though far from the first anime in general), and the first anime that i started my downloading-isms with, so it pushed me off the deep end in a big way :P I remember not being able to differentiate between any of the girls' voices at first, but by the end i could recognize them all. Me and my sister enjoyed watching this together. Certainly a fun anime; probably not one of my absolute favorites but i have fond memories of watching Love Hina :D I can still sing the opening to this day <3.

Haruka from Mai HiME/Otome :P
